Pesantren as an islamic educational institution is obliged to present Islam to the entire universe. By utilizing the various elements of the repertoire of the archipelago, Pesantren shows its wisdom that can still survive to function in modern times. How the nature of pesantren’s local wisdom performs and its role in the preservation and practice of religion is interesting to explore.Pesantren’s Local Wisdom was born from the scientific dialogue of pesantren community (Kiai and Pupils) with religious texts, the natural environment of pesantren, and the surrounding community of pesantren. The forms of pesantren’s local wisdom can be pesantren’s folklores, poems,
music, pesantren’s moral tradition, and so forth. Local wisdom can serve as an introductory system to humans to draw closer to religion. Local wisdom is useful for storing, preserving, and visualizing religious doctrines. Pesantren’s local wisdom needs to be preserved, is open to adjustments,
and needs to produce better new wisdoms by utilizing religion as a source of inspiration.
