Mitoni Tradition in view of Buddhism in hamlet Sodong, Village Gelangkulon, Subdistrict of Sampung, District Ponorogo. Research Lecturer. Department of Kepanditaan. College of Buddhist Affairs (STABN) Raden Wijaya Wonogiri Jawa Tengah. This research aim to know the implementation of mitoni tradition in hamlet Sodong, Gelangkulon village, subdistrict of Sampung,District Ponorogo especially Buddhists, and the values of the Buddha’s teachings are contained in the implementation of mitoni tradition. The results of this research are (1) mitoni traditions in hamlet Sodong not enter values both religious teachings of Buddhism and other religions as a form of community efforts to establish kindship with members of different religious communities, implementation includes three processions that are neloni procession, Tingkeban processions, and procotan procession, each requiring tools and offerings and the execution time has been determined based on weton and should not be violated goal for salvation and blessing for the baby, the mother, and the surrounding communities, in meeting tools and offerings in the form of grilled chicken, community in hamlet Sodong still do kill chicken, the kill chicken Buddhism conduct is a violation of first precept from Pancasila Buddhist, (2) the value of the noble teachings of the Buddha that contained in the implementation mitoni tradition in hamlet Sodong are traditioning include family,giving, and to condition the mind to things it whether done by reading the prayer. After learning the traditional values that are inconsistent with the teachings of the Buddha, people should look
for a solution that is not doing kill the chicken, and start up chanting before holding mitoni tradition.
