The interpretation of Muhammad Syahrur abaut verse of aurat and jilbab : al Qur'an Surah an Nur 31 and al Ahzab 59
Jilbab is a dress (of similar width to ‘long-big dress) worn by women to cover their bodies or aurat in islamic preaching. Aurat according to Islam refers to the intimate parts of the human body that must be covered from the sight of others with clothing. Exposing the intimate parts of the body is unlawful in Islam and is regarded as sin (haram). For more understanding we are going to describe more comprehensively about aurat.rnMuhammad Syahrur defines al-juyub derived from the word jawaba or a’in fiil is Wawu letters. Then take the meaning of the hole (al-kharqu) of the word al-Jub, but he derified it as the meaning of al-jaib, thus al-pit hole jaib means female genitalia. It could be found that al-juyub literally means the open shirt and shirt pockets. rnThis article tries to discuss the thought of Muhammad Syahrur, a contemporary Muslim thinker mostly taken a controversial. Implementing a legal philosophy approach, this writing analyzes Syahrur’s thought pertaining to the authoritative source of Islam and its logical consequences formulated in a variety of Islamic legal products, such as concerning marriage, polygamy, dowry, divorce, fashion or hijab and leadership or imamah.Upon his analysis ofthe aforementioned Islamic legal points,Syahrur demonstrates that Islamic teachings have been narrow mindedly comprehend and textually perceived.rnThe most famous theory of Muhammad Syahrur is Limit Theory. In short view it’s ordered for women to cover the entire body except the face and palms, while the minimum limit is the only cover juyub which he includes cleavage, the body under the armpits, genitals, and buttocks. In addition it does not include genitalia and just adjust with the local tradition alone.rn
