Analyzing invitation cards’ strategies in teaching transactional writing for the eighth graders at SMPN 25 Surabaya
This research is aimed at describing the teaching strategies in teaching transactional writing using invitation cards, to identify the obstacles in teaching transactional writing using invitation cards, and to describe how the teacher deals with the obstacles in teaching transactional writing using invitation cards.rnThe research was implemented for the eighth graders at SMPN 25 Surabaya. The writer took 38 students and 1 teacher as the subject of the research. The writer analyzes the teacher strategies using invitation cards that are conducted at the “E” class. To find the results, the researcher got the information from the documentation, observation checklist and interview.rnThe writer uses descriptive-qualitative study to collect the data. The results of the research are first, the teacher’s strategies using invitation cards as same as the strategies which is used by Ontario Curriculum, the teacher used some strategies in teaching writing for a purpose on three stages; before, during and after. Second, the majority of the obstacles in teaching transactional writing is the class size. It is supported by Caroline who said that large classes are often perceived as one of the major obstacles in teaching and learning process. And the last result is the teacher overcomes the obstacle in teaching based on ILFE booklet 2 is by creating well managed classroom community, and planning the lesson and choosing effective alternatives which can be reached.rn
