Sirri marriage can be defined as the marriage that meets the religious requirements [rukun and syarat] but is not being registered to the PPN or official responsible for marriage registration in accordance to the state law. In Indonesia, nikah sirri considered by most muslims s legal [sah] from religious perspective. Nikah siri usually are conducted with help of modin or kiai as the one that legalizes the marriage and therefore are considered as legal from religious perspective by most muslims. Phenomenon of nikah siri is closely related to socio cultural and religious values within the society in particular is related to how people perceive marriage. Within Indoensian society especially those in rural areas, marriage is perceived as social obligation rahter than as manifestation of individual's will [read: especially woman].
