The implementation of quota and affirmative action in the 2009 legislative Election, have been successfully increase the representation of women in national and local parliament. However, this paper demonsstrates that the increasing number of women in local parliemant does not necessarily means the rising quality of women parliamentarian elected. Based on the field research and interview with the resource persons in Pekalongan Regency from June to July 2009 by focusing on three cases of female parliament candidates from PKS, PKB, PDIP, this paper suggests that the strengthening pragmatism politics has contributed subtantially in worsening the quality of the elected women parliamentarian member.ifa.
