Waqf law considered carrying spirit of renewal. The waqflaw become a matter of discussion who show attension on waqf and then it has showed question what is essence of waqf actually. The answer of that question is important on effort to understand the discussion emergeed in this matter and give direction to renewal of waqf law furthermore. This is a library research. The prominent reference is the books of scholars of fourt mazhabs and waqf Law, whereas the supplement reference is books, dictionary, encyclopedia, and other regulation which are related to the study. The approach is used in this research is philosophical-jurisprudence [fiqh] approach. Jurisprudence approach is used in examining various opinions of scholars and waqf law in the matter of essence of waqf. The philosophical approach is used in efforts to discover the essence of waqf radically. The results of this study are four points. The first, there are various opinions of scholars of mazhabs in considering...ifa.
