Poverty is a classical problem that becomes the biggest challange to Indonesia nowadays. In this case, the government has mandates to protect the poor. Ironically, Indonesia that has a plenty of natural resources is incapable to solve this problem. Therefore, it is necessary for civil society organizations to play a bigger role in this national development program. Indonesian Muslims throught the concept of wakaf [case endowment], which has already received formal permission from the government [UU number 41/2004] and from MUI [the National Council of Indonesian Ulama], can involve in poverty alleviation programs by ways of collecting fund from the rich to be managed for the benefits of the ppor.ifa.
