The complexity of present problems undoubtedly needs an 'ilumination' of law as Bahtsul Masail stand for it in NU [Nahdlatul Ulama]. But, some of NU raise objections to the method of law formulation used by Bahtsul Masail because it is regarded as a static and irresponsive method. This condition emerges critique and new study in law formulation that try to give an alternative method for Bahtsul Masail and refers to the principles of Islamic treasury. Then, this article will propose some questions below. What is the tradition of NU to formulate the law?How are the critique and new study in formulating the law in NU?How is the alternative model proposed by that movement?How are the relevance and validity of that critique and new study with the established ushul fiqh?ifa.
