Keroncong is one of the most popular music streams in Indonesia. It is well-known and liked in Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia. Before it was finally spread throughout the country. It first emerged from a small village on the north of Jakarta called Tugu. Kampung tugu lies on the south of Tanjung Priok Harbor. Tugu has recorded as one of Jakarta's most historical places for the last fifteen centuries. It is now on the east of jalan Yos Sudarso [known By Pass Road], of jalan Plumpang Semper. Art is the part of culture of society. For that, art very functional. One of the function is to answer the problems of this community. In Tugu community, the problem is confession of identity which hang in doubt. They try showed their existence passing tradition which still remain. Today, the tugu Portuguese still maintain the traditions. On christmas they pay a visit to relatives and greet in Portuguese. On New Year's Eve, young people still sing and dence to old number of keroncong....ifa.
