The method of maslahah represents serious attempt to discover laws hidden in their sources. All mujtahids from different schools of thought agreed that Islamic shari'ah is laid down for the benefit [maslahah] of mankind. Then, maslahah is the main consideration to formulate Islamic Law. One of the categories of maslahah is maslahah mursalah, a kind of benefit proposed by man but it is not supported nor rejected by nass. Generally, the method of maslahah is the application of a famous principle in Islamic Law, preventing harm and begetting benefit".
