This paper explains about Islamic law [sharia] as the whole dutyof mankind and encompasses all aspects of human life. It is derived from the Quran, the Sunna and Ijtihad. At the recent decades, Muslim scholars have introduced the methodology of Islamic law in different approaches such as deductive and inductive method. Deductive method of Syafi'i school introduced the formulation of Islamic legal principles in a general text [kaidah ushul] to analyze the specific cases; and an inductive method of Hanafi School introduced the formulation of Islamic legal principles from the specific cases into formulation of Islamic legal principles from the specific cases into formulation of specific text [kaidah fiqh]. This paper also explains an inductive method as one alternative to takea response of various legal problems in modern time. Moreover, rational dimension of inductive method is very necessary to reform Islamic law to be relevant with social and political situation in Muslim life.....yo.
