Abdurrahman wahid's [Gus Dur's] ideas on reformation are offered and it causes a new atmosphere of thought pattern in Nahdhatul Ulama. Liberalism, democracy, and universalism become the main icons accompanying the thoughts. This character is mixed in the combination of Islamic and cultural concepts. The implemantation of the shari'ah is done using the contextual interpretation not the textual one. The emergence of these ideas surprises Nahdliyin followers, including the external components. Even, it invites pro-and cons-reactions. In spite of the controversies, his ideas go on influencing and illuminating the traditional thoughts of the nahdlyin followers-especially, the young folowers.het.
