This book is a continuation of the writer's previous work, from cosmogony to exorcism in a Javanese genesis; the spirit seed 2000, in which he discussed how mythological beliefs regarding the origin on the creation of the world played an important role in the social and religious lives of the Javanese. These mythological beliefs contituted te basis of the formation for both social relations within the Javanese community, as well as the ritual practices of the javanese in seeking fortune and safety [slametan]. in Durga's mosque, the author moves the discussion to how Islamic monotheism was introduced and developed within the javanese culture and communities. With the advent of Islam, the mythological stories of Gods [dewa], which had existed within the Javanese mythological belief, were transformed into new concepts within the domain of Islamic theological beliefs.het.
