This article is aimed at discussing the concept of al Maududi about Islamic caliphate system. The political concept of al Maududi is developed based on his comprehensive understanding toward Islamic teachings, especially, the tauhid. According to him, tauhid it the most important thing in Islam. Through this basis, the obedience is for Allah and no one can claim as the creator and authority but Allah. From this basis, caliphate concept is resulted, and the main ideas are:1. The foundation of the state is Islamic law, 2. its govermental system is theo-democracy, 3. The state authority is held by three institutions: Legislative, executive and Judicative, 4. The civilians are divided into muslim and non Muslim [Dzimmy].het.
