This studi is aimed at knowing the application and development of the Islamic Education in Pesantren Nurul Hikmah Sooko Mojokerto in facing the modernization. This study uses descriptive analitic approach. The result show that modernization process in Pesantren Nurul Hikmah proceeds rather slowly. This is because the instructional system is still using the old system in the form of sorogan and bandongan. However, the Pesantren has had supportive critique tradition such as that applied during bahthu al masail and munadharah. Through these methods, Pesantren Nurul Hikmah applies the transformation in the thought pattern of the students and gives chances for them to think and behave critically and creatively.het.
