Problem to be addressed in this study is the empowerment of housewives of poor family in enhancing family quality as one of the efforts to alleviate poverty. For this purpose, a qualitative action research with gender perspective was carried out in Mranggen sub district, Demak district. The result shows that natural resources of the place of study can be developed particularly those of food plants. To improve their personal strength and independency, they need various training of life skills such : culinary, fashion and handicraft. Based on longwe analysis, it came out that control to power was still in an imbalance situation. In the level of participation, the role of women can be detected but still under utilized. The awareness aspect is still in the cultural level but access to resources is already equal between men and women. At prosperity level came out that all activities have already paid attention to womwn issue.
