Islam was revealed within the context of Arabian life in which the women had no volue at all because they were considered imperfect intellectually, and they were regarded as men's subordinate. This hint was implied by existence of such religious text as Surat al Baqarah ayat 282 and hadith Nabi which literally describes that women's witness was volued as half as men's eitness due to the lack of the second's intellect. This jurisdiction was so well-codified in many classical fiqh books that this understanding is prevalently used in nowadays Muslim world. This understanding, nevertheless, appears to be contradictory to general principle of Islam which undervalues discrimination on the basis of gender bias. Though this article, the writer tries to reinterprete womwn's witness by deconstructing some treligious text which are no longer compatible to the spirit of Islam and modernity.
