This article attempts at analyzing the fuqaha conception of matla in the perspective of modern astronomy, showing the argument used to support in and the calculation of matla' according to modern astronomy, and the relevance of matla' in fuqahas point of view and modern antronomy. The technique of data gathering is done by documentary analysis; that is, by digging, reading and analyzing the information on this issue. The gathered data are then analyzed by descriptive and comperative methods. One of the fuqaha views which is relevant to the limit of matla' to the east of the center of rukyat. The standart of determining the limit of matla' in shafi'iyah's point of view, is considered to be very simple and static, namely within the distance os 16 farsakhs/89 kms. @syur.
