The convention on the Elimination of All forms of DiscriminationAgaints Women [CEDAW]_one of the world convention about elimination of all the form of women discriminations_had been ratified as Undang-Undang Nomor 7 tahun 1984, in Indonesian law system. The transformation of CEDAW in our national law have undoubtedly changed the tradition pattern of discrimination to women. However, the changes factually are not easy, and even very complicated. As the ratification of CEDAW causes political problem, its implementation is also contradictivewith the social problem, especially in the differences of ipinion about culture and religion. The substantive problem of the implementation of women rights protection in Indonesia, in the perspective of CEDAW, does not simply contradict with the national law, but also with the existence of the Islamic Law and traditional law which had been rooted in Indonesian culture, and representing special sources for national law.yo.
