This workattempts at elucidating the knowledge of exegesis and some methodsin interpreting the Qur'an, with the emphas on hermeuthics. The writer further assets that hermeutics can be defined as a process of changing the unknown thing into the known one. The difference between the two is that the object of 'ilum al tafsir is not outside the Qur'an,while hermeutics encompasses all disciplines ofknowledge, including the discipline oftextual studies (the Qur'an,Ninle). Supponsingly, there are unintelligible verses ofQur'an,the interpretation of them may be found in the other verses. In the discoursesof 'ulum al tafsir,there are such terminologies as mantuq al Qur'an wa mafhumuh,or 'ammuhu wa khassuhu,each of which mentioned repeatedly by musaffirs,especially when they find certain verses which explain other meaning. Whenever we find general verses of the al Qur'an and need any further meaning,we will certainly find other verses in other parts of the al Qur'an.
